Upscale and cutout stay local
An old thumb needs a large slot. A product needs a white ground. Sending an unreleased catalog to a website is a leak, not a quality problem. Version 2.0.2 on 27 August 2026 put 2×/4× and cutout on the plan.

Upscale and cutout are plan steps. Engines live on disk. PDF and animated files are skipped.
How
- Install the engine under Settings → Plugins. You download a program and a model. See Engines and Upscale and cutout.
- Enable upscale (2× or 4×) or cutout (lite / general) on the plan. Both default off.
- One plan can enlarge, then cut out, then emit sizes and a watermark.
- JPG / BMP / GIF become PNG after cutout so the alpha can exist.
- PDF, GIF, and animated WebP skip these steps. A missing engine fails that row only.
The Microsoft Store build cannot download the upscale engine from the network. Use the direct installer for 2×/4×, or point at an engine already on disk. Cutout works in the Store build (the program can ship in the package; the ONNX model can still download).
Success counts against quota. After pixels change, a larger file does not revert.
Do not
- Do not write “lossless enlarge” or “perfect cutout.” The site does not promise that.
- Do not compare this to a yearly portrait-rebuild subscription.
- Do not wait for an upscale download in the Store build. It will not start.
