Product photos: cut out, export sizes, and watermark locally

Image Optimizer is for operators and designers who ship listing images: remove the background, emit several sizes, add a watermark, and keep originals on this computer. It is not a cloud retouching subscription and it does not send hero shots to a cutout website. macOS and Windows. Free quota is 300 images per month. Successful cutouts count.

A typical day

You export camera or phone shots at work and finish detail images later. Backgrounds are messy, resolutions differ, and each channel wants its own size. Turn on the Cutout plan, add sizes and a watermark, then drop the folder.

Suggested flow

  1. Install the cutout engine in Settings · Plugins (the model downloads to this machine once).
  2. Open the Cutout plan and make sure it is enabled. Lite is enough for simple objects on a clean backdrop. General is heavier and can help on harder edges.
  3. In Multiple sizes, add cover, square, and detail widths. Crop can fill, fit, or use smart composition.
  4. Turn on watermark when you need a brand mark. Place it in the nine-cell grid and set opacity.
  5. Turn on Target size if a channel has a byte cap.
  6. Click Optimize. After cutout, JPEG / BMP / GIF are saved as PNG so the background can stay transparent.

PDF, GIF, and animated WebP skip cutout so animations and documents are not destroyed. If the engine is missing, only that row fails.

Versus a monthly online cutout tool

Online cutout bills per image or per month and uploads the file. That is fine for a few shots. Image Optimizer folds cutout into compression, extra sizes, watermark, and watch folders. That fits the same catalog, over and over, when unpublished products must not leave the building. Quality depends on the model and the photo. This site does not claim perfect cutouts.

To enlarge a small shot before cutout, enable upscale in the same plan. To avoid opening the window every time, use watch folders.
